This review is for a 2015 Carve SL. Where to begin. If you are in the market for a single speed, look no further. Strengths: Vertical rear drop-outs. Eccentric bottom bracket. Detailer hanged included so this can be converted into a 1x10 geared bike if single speed is not your thing. Solid part spec out of the box. Construction is hydro-formed alum tubing and ridge carbon folk. A perfect blend of weigh and price. Geometry is race oriented, just like the entire Carve line is (Was. Specialized dropped the entire Carve line for 2017) My go to bike for 80% of my rides. Primary use is training bike to transition back to my Epic. Cons: Umm… riding my full suspension less, unless racing of course. Had to buy a plaid jersey. Never gets unloaded from car, "just in case" a ride opportunity appears. Summary: Light, affordable, great geometry, 9-10 speed convertible, shimano hydraulic brakes. Gearing changes are straight forward, seat and grips are personal choice (like all our bikes are) Tires are mid-west perfect, folding too. Ride it stock, or go crazy and make it your super lightweight ride. One last comment, ridge folk. Super handling, especially on climbs. Not a downhill speed bike, not matter what you do to it. I did put a rock shock folk w/ brain on it (for a short time), but to me the weight penalty was not worth it. Save your $$$ for other items that don't add weight unless you are going to race S.S. class with it.
